My design process always begins with research. In this step, I seek to explore and understand design challenges from a human perspective to ensure that my concepts and ideas are pertinent and useful. In this step, I conduct interviews and observations of users in the context of the design challenge.
I synthesize my research findings through brainstorming, rapid idea sketches, and systemic categorization of user insights. This process is most exciting in teams where everyone contributes their thoughts, ideas, and observations. Concepts are oftentimes generated as a result of both research evidence and my intuition and personal experience.
Rapid and higher fidelity prototyping is an important step in testing and validating my design concepts. My skills range from rapid physical prototyping with tools as simple as pens and paper to more advanced methods using tools such as Arduino or the Adobe Suite to simulate and communicate the product experience.
